My name is Staci. I am 29 years old and currently reside in Coal Center, Pennsylvania, a small town outside of Pittsburgh. I am happily married with 4 children, 1 boy and 3 girls. My youngest daughter Chloe was born with gastroschisis. I found this out at my 20 week ultrasound. I had never heard of this, and was very scared for the health of my baby. Chloe was born May 7th, 2013 at 36.4 weeks, weighing 4 pounds 13 oz, at Magee Hospital. Chloe was then transferred to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for her surgery and road to recovery. She had closure within hours of birth, spent 53 days in the NICU, and by the grace of God, we haven’t looked back since. She is a happy, healthy 14 month old.
I decided to join Avery’s Angels to support the parents who are, have been, or will be in my shoes. To me, there is nothing more devastating than the thought of something happening with your child that you have no control over. I am very happy to be apart of this organization, and look forward to getting to know and provide support for fellow gastroschisis moms.
