Jasmine Zavala
Avery’s Angels Team
Administrative Assistant
After realizing that being in the corporate world wasn’t for me, I started looking into more fulfilling work through public service. I decided to pursue a Master’s in Public Administration at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. As I progressed through my courses, I found a purpose within the Nonprofit community after working with The United Way, The Food Bank, and various organizations throughout New Hanover County. I ultimately graduated with a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management. After graduation, I moved back home with my Fiance and our newly adopted furbaby, Luna.
Currently, I’m a Corp Member through Teach for America, teaching elementary education in Eastern North Carolina in low-income communities working towards educational equity. Public service is my passion. I am grateful to have found an empowering community and hope to serve as a social warrior in my role. I first learned about The Global Gastroschisis Foundation when I was introduced to Meghan and her family, and I hope to be a helpful resource to the organization and its mission.
