Dr. John Kerner MD

Avery Award of Excellence in Pediatric Gastroenterology

Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford

Palo Alto, California

Nominated by Analeise Guild

unnamed-12Dr. Kerner was nominated by Analeise Guild, mother to a long term medically necessary gastroschisis child, Cali. Dr. Kerner is a pediatric gastroenterologist at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. He received his medical degree at University of California San Francisco School of Medicine and did his fellowship at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Dr. Kerner has been with Cali since birth. We adopted Cali at the age of 1, so Dr. Kerner came into my life later then he came into Cali’s life.I always felt so comfortable with the care she was given and so happy to have such an amazing team with my daughter before she came to live with us. I nominated Dr. Kerner because from the second I met him, he was always so caring and personable. He got to know us as a family, not just Cali. He has taken the time to get to know all of my children, even bringing my boys hockey cards when they come to the visits. Cali has a very complex case and we are so blessed that we have Dr. Kerner as her pediatric Gastroenterologist. I feel like Dr. Kerner really cares about my concerns and will actually listen to me when I have ideas or anything else that comes up. From a parents point of view, he is amazing to work with and always makes you feel like he is on your team. Cali has come further then we ever expected and we have Dr. Kerner to thank for that. The care he gives to our family is amazing and I could never thank him enough. We look forward to seeing him at all of her clinic appointments and thank god every day for giving my Cali such an amazing doctor to look after all of her care. When we adopted Cali, we also adopted a whole team of doctors and nurses and are so happy that Dr. Kerner is one of them.
