My Gastroschisis journey started in September 2002 when my nephew Darion was born with Gastroschisis that was undetected during pregnancy. It shocked and rocked our family to the core. After 13 months of countless surgeries, infections, and setbacks Darion passed away due to complications while waiting on a multi-organ transplant in October 2003. Although Avery’s Angels wasn’t around during Darion’s lifetime, they have been a tremendous support to my family and our grief. I am committed to helping other families in Ohio with their journey’s with Gastroschisis, and am very excited about the future of this foundation and the families we serve all around the world.
