I’m Skylar and it’s my pleasure to be a Mississippi Co-Hub Leader. I’m currently finishing up a degree in Psychology and then pursuing a career in nursing. My eldest daughter is medically complex. Her primary diagnosis is Ultra Short Gut Syndrome aka SBS. Many children born with Gastroschisis often also have Short Bowel Syndrome, but my daughter’s SBS didn’t derive from Gastroschisis. She was born with one of the worst cases of Jejunal Artesia. She’s four now and lives her best life despite everything.
Our journey hasn’t been an easy one, but along the way I found Avery’s Angels. The Foundation has taught me what it means to advocate to my best ability. I feel so blessed to be able to support families during the most uncertain times during their journeys.
